The MEC met with the communities on June and they urged government to move with speed to provide clean water.Dube-Ncube was accompanied by the Transport MEC Mxolisi Khawunda and Human Settlement MEC Ravi Pillay; who, also responded to issues of Roads, safety and Housing during a community engagement meeting in the area on 08.07.18<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><!--[if lt IE 9]><script>document.createElement('video');<\/script><![endif]-->\n<video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-8493-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kzncogta.gov.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/KwaNokweja-Community-Engagement_converted.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"http:\/\/www.kzncogta.gov.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/KwaNokweja-Community-Engagement_converted.mp4\">http:\/\/www.kzncogta.gov.za\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/07\/KwaNokweja-Community-Engagement_converted.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<p><b><\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MEC FOR KZN Cogta, the Honourable Nomusa Dube-Ncube has assured the community of KwaNokweja and eMazabekweni in the Ubuhlebezwe Local Municipality under the Harry Gwala District Municipality, that before the end of this month, they will definitely have access to clean water. This after the MEC met with the communities last month where they urged government to move with speed to provide clean water.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThis is good news indeed and we are very happy that since we have met with the communities a lot of work has been done. We made an undertaking to them to the effect that we will come and report to them with regard to numerous development grievances they brought to our attention. As we speak water has been already pumped to all reservoirs and pumps have been repaired, a clear indication that we are only left with few loose ends to tie. The water scheme servicing this area was immensely hampered mainly by illegal connections that reduced pressure resulting to water not flowing at all from the taps\u2019\u2019 said Dube-Ncube.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The water scheme is going to ensure that 3000 households have got access to clean water. More than R40 million have been invested in it. Currently, water is provided by water tankers as a temporary measure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dube-Ncube, also told the youth in the area that her department has already secured funds to build an outdoor gym.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cWe have got a number of our young people that are unemployed in this area and there are no facilities that could keep them busy and stay away from drugs. This outdoor gym is not going to only keep young people occupied but it will also improve their health. Now it\u2019s a matter of the community guiding us as to where this gym is going to be built. We are also going to provide them with kits for various sport codes\u2019. We are also looking into upgrading sporting facilities in the area that would see our young people exposing their talent\u201d said Dube-Ncube.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dube-Ncube urged the community to refrain from embarking on violent service delivery protests that usually result to roads being blockaded preventing free movement in the community.
