Overview<\/strong><\/h3>

The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works<\/strong> as an \u2018employer of choice<\/strong>\u2019 implements the internship programme<\/strong> as a vehicle and opportunity to graduates and students<\/strong> who are directly and indirectly potential employees. The students are commonly called or known as \u2018interns<\/strong>\u2019, where they work at designated office (s), which of is in line with the candidates\u2019 scope of work and curriculum for a fixed, limited period. Interns are usually graduates or students placed on internship programme that last for any length of time between one week and 12 months.<\/strong><\/p>

Purpose of the Internship Programme<\/strong><\/p>

The programme aims to:<\/p>

  • Facilitate student-learning opportunities outside the classroom.<\/li>
  • Provide the opportunity to apply classroom theory to “real world” situations thus enhancing the students’ academic and career goals.<\/li>
  • Offer students a hands-on opportunity to work in their desired field<\/li>
  • Offer networking opportunities for future job prospects.<\/li><\/ul>

    Interns gain valuable real-world experience that strengthens their resumes and increases their chances of securing full-time employment after graduation.<\/p>

    Internship Stipend & Benefits<\/strong><\/h3>
    • Monthly Stipend:<\/strong> Interns receive a fixed monetary payment for the duration of their internship.<\/li>
    • Career Growth:<\/strong> While full-time job offers are not guaranteed, exceptional interns may receive offers from participating institutions.<\/li>
