Overview<\/b><\/h3>

The Bursary Programme<\/strong> continues to create a pool of skilled youth<\/strong> in areas identified as critical to the department. It also aims to create development pipelines<\/strong> by finding and nurturing scarce skills<\/strong> that are vital to the \u2018built environment\u2019. The programme contributes towards achieving the objectives of the National Youth Policy (2015-2020)<\/strong>. Additionally, the Department implements the Works Integrated Learning (WIL) Programme, which benefits students who require in-service training by providing practical exposure in their technical disciplines. These disciplines include quantity surveying, architecture, engineering, real estate and property valuation, and construction project management, enabling students to complete their qualifications with their respective academic tertiary institutions (Technical Vocational & Education Training Colleges or National Diplomas from Universities of Technology).<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

On the other hand, the bursary programme promotes lifelong learning, developing and offering access to individual skills, knowledge, and abilities, ultimately responding to the needs and career aspirations of the youth. Upon completion of the programme, the benefits of youth development and empowerment gradually emerge through its long-term impact and added value<\/strong>, such as:<\/p>

  • Provision of opportunities<\/strong> for individual growth and enhanced skills.<\/li>
  • Sustained talent pipeline.<\/li>
  • Professional aspirations and harnessed competence.<\/li>
  • Improved employability through opportunities for work experience.<\/li>
  • Creation of a capable developmental state, which in turn promotes transformation and economic growth<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>
