EPWP was launched in 2004.<\/p><h4><strong>Key Objectives<\/strong><\/h4><ul><li><strong>Job Creation<\/strong>: Provide temporary and ongoing work opportunities for the unemployed.<\/li><li><strong>Skills Development<\/strong>: Train individuals, especially youth, women, and people with disabilities, to increase their employability.<\/li><li><strong>Economic Growth<\/strong>: Increase economic development through improved skills and an enabling environment for industry growth.<\/li><\/ul><h4><strong>EPWP Key Sectors<\/strong><\/h4><p>EPWP operates through <strong>four key sectors<\/strong> to maximize impact:<\/p><ol><li><p><strong>Infrastructure<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li>Increase the labour intensity of government-funded infrastructure projects.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><p><strong>Non-State<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li>Create work opportunities through Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and the Community Work Programme (CWP).<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><p><strong>Environment &amp; Culture<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li>Provide employment through public environmental and cultural projects.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li><p><strong>Social<\/strong>:<\/p><ul><li>Create work in public social programmes to uplift communities.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ol><h4><strong>Target Groups<\/strong><\/h4><p>EPWP pays special attention to:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Women<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Youth<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>People with Disabilities<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p>This focus ensures inclusivity and equal opportunities for historically disadvantaged groups.<\/p><h3><strong>EPWP Provincial Coordination (KwaZulu-Natal)<\/strong><\/h3><p>The <strong>KwaZulu-Natal Department of Public Works<\/strong> has coordinated EPWP within the province since 2015.
