ULUNDI, 11 JULY 2025 – The KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta), Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has expressed his sadness following the untimely passing of Mr. Sipho Nkosi, the Acting Municipal Manager of Jozini Local Municipality.
Mr. Nkosi passed away suddenly on Wednesday, 9 July 2025.
Mr. Nkosi’s passing creates a significant void within the local government sector in KwaZulu-Natal. As a seasoned local government professional, Mr. Nkosi held various roles in KZN municipalities, such as Nongoma, Ulundi and Zululand District, where he consistently demonstrated commitment and excellence in his duties.
He was a mentor and a fount of wisdom on local government matters, having been in the space for over 30 years, his passing leaves a gap that will be difficult to fill.
MEC Buthelezi extends his deepest condolences to the Nkosi family, as well as to the staff and the broader community of Jozini Local Municipality, during this challenging time.
